Datatel Has Changed!

Web UI 4.3.2 is the latest interface to the Datatel Financial System. While there is little change to processes, there have been significant enhancements to Datatel's appearance and user functionality. Datatel UI 4.3.2 runs through your web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome) and requires no special software installation on your computer. Java is no longer required, eliminating version conflicts. UI 4.3.2 uses the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in which will be installed during your first login, if it is not already installed on your computer.

Change in Password Policy

The Datatel Financial System now uses AD (Active Directory) authentication, making it unnecessary to maintain your Datatel password separately. You will continue to log into Datatel using your Datatel User ID, but you should use your ULID password. If you Datatel User ID is different from your ULID, you should use the Datatel User ID but the ULID password.

Quick Tips for UI 4.3:

• Enter CF-XQTP in Form Search to access XQTP reports
• Enter CF-ORGP in Form Search to access ORGP in inquiry mode
• Print Local no longer exists; click on Export PDF and then print the PDF
• If you select Save As from the Report Browser, open your .txt document with Wordpad and your formatting will be intact
• To create a shortcut to https://datatel.illinoisstate.edu/, grab the icon to the left of the URL and drop it onto your desktop--and there is your shortcut!
• To Delete an AP Type or Vendor ID, use Alt+Ctrl+D (used to be Ctrl+D)
• If you are using a Mac and Firefox and have problems creating vouchers in VOUM, try using Safari or Internet Explorer (IE is only available in PC mode).
• If you are using Datatel and have installed Cisco CUPC (Cisco Unified Personal Communicator), you may have a problem when using the Datatel Alt+Control+D hotkey sequence to delete fields. The Cisco installer puts a Windows shortcut in the Start Menu, but that can be easily unmapped, using this solution: solution to ctrl+alt+d issue.
• Please click on "Logout" when you are ready to close a Datatel session. Avoid using your browser's X button unless you have no other option.

What Has Changed in User Interface 4.3?

The most significant change with UI 4.3 is that it is entirely web-browser-based. There is no Datatel software on your workstation. Otherwise, for the average user, you will notice a new cosmetic appearance, but the screens you use have not changed functionally.

Here are some of the new features that Datatel has delivered with UI 4.3:

• You can save forms to your personal “Favorites” list
• You can access screens by searching on a keyword or description, without having to remember screen mnemonics
• You can set personal preferences for screen size and appearance
• You can sort on specific fields in LookUps
• You can export grid contents to Excel
• You can save reports to PDF format
• You can print a form/screen by clicking on a Print button within Datatel

Before launching UI 4.3, you will need to either disable all pop-up blockers or add the UI 4.3 site as an exception to the pop-up blocker in your browser. Be sure to also disable any third-party toolbars that may have additional pop-up blockers.
